GII Program – Get Handsets with Invalid IMEI Implanted with Genuine IMEI Number

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

In order to maintain maximum transparency and avoid security threats, Indian mobile operators will block all mobile phones without a genuine IMEI number from 1st December 2009. This rule has been implanted in compliance with the Govt. (DOT) circular to start barring the handsets carrying Invalid IMEI numbers. Once the mobile operators start blocking mobile phones with fake IMEI numbers, the mobile phone users will have no choice left, except buying a new mobile handset.
IMEI Implant Program
It’s expected that nearly 25 million mobile handsets will stop working once invalid and fake IMEI numbers get blocked. Since this kind of step is being taken for the first time, Government of India has also moved ahead to help such innocent users by providing new IMEI number for blocked handsets. They have started GII (Genuine IMEI Implant Program) to implant the genuine IMEI numbers on the mobile handsets which were carrying bad/non genuine IMEI numbers.
